Polarised Sunglasses
UV400 rated polarised acrylic and polycarbonate lenses are, well... polarised, which means they cut down significantly on reflected glare from water, fog, snow, glass and reflective surfaces, improving through-water visibility for fishermen and boaties.
For driving they reduce reflected glare from the road surface, oncoming vehicles and even the bonnet of your own car.
Different lens colours enhance the benefits of polarising lenses in different lighting conditions:
-
Smoke Lens - A neutral grey tint for excellent all-round glare reduction in all lighting conditions (but especially bright direct sunlight.) and minimal colour distortion. Ideal for all water sports, offshore and coastal fishing, driving, and most daily outdoor activities.
-
Copper Lens - Selectively filters out blue light or haze giving increased clarity and contrast, particularly on hazy days. Great where distances need to be constantly judged, like golf, tennis, or other sports requiring acute visual perception and contrast differentiation. Preferred choice for freshwater fishing.
-
Amber Lens - High contrast lens for low light conditions such as overcast days, at dusk or dawn, or when ambient lighting is flat or low contrast. Ideal for hunting, after dusk driving, and snow skiing. Heightens visual contrast without blocking out too much light.
Polarised Fuglies sunglasses are available in either non-mirrored or gold mirrored finish. Obviously the polarised lens is great for fishing but the strap and flotation makes them ideal for yachting, surfing and power boating - they won't come off your head, and if they do, they won't sink.
A Word About Floating: Yes, they float, but it's the strap and the foam insert that make that happen. Also, while fully waterproof and great for watersports, the foam will become waterlogged after about 45 minutes of full immersion. The basic deal is that if you're wearing them in, on or around the water, if you drop them in the water you've got heaps of time to retrieve them (unless they float away), but don't expect them to float with the bits that make them float removed, or to be able to float forever. Just thought we'd let you know.
